The hacking campaign, dubbed “Salt Typhoon” by Microsoft, is considered one of the most significant intelligence breaches in U.S. history and remains unresolved. During a press call on Tuesday, officials declined to provide a timeline for fully securing the nation’s telecommunications systems. Sources told NBC News that China was behind the breach, infiltrating AT&T, Verizon, and Lumen Technologies to conduct surveillance on customers.
